- What is the TrioBet Baltic League and why is it named so?

- The TrioBet Baltic league is a football tournament comprising of best clubs from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. ’TrioBet’ is the main sponsor of the Baltic league, ’Baltic’ means the three countries, while the tournament was named ’league’, because it’s model was in the first two seasons was similar to that of UEFA Champions league or Scandinavian Royal League.

- Who is the organizer of the competition?
- The TrioBet Baltic league is organized by the Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian football federations.

- When did the competition start?
- The modern Baltic league was launched in 2007, with 12 teams taking part in the first season.

The tournament was preceded by a 2006 Baltic Champions Cup, which was held in Liepaja and contested by Ekranas Panevė˛ys of Lithuania (winners), TVMK Tallinn of Estonia and Liepajas Metalurgs of Latvia.

There were also Baltic league club tournaments in 1990 (18 participants, won by ˇalgiris Vilnius) and 1993/1994 (8 participants, won by ˇalgiris Vilnius).

- How many participants are there in the tournament now and how they are selected?

- From year 2009 the TrioBet Baltic league consists of 16 teams.

There are five teams from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania each, selected according to results in their domestic championships. The remaining place goes to the winner country of the previous TrioBet Baltic league season.


- How are matches selected to be show on TV?

The matches are selected by the TrioBet Baltic league and Viasat on fair and equality basis, meaning at least one match is broadcasted from each country, as well as depending on the facilities available at the hosting stadiums.

- Where can I get tickets for the matches?
- For tickets to matches up to the final please enquire the hosting club and/or check their website.

- How many matches are played in the competition rounds?
- For every round up to the final teams play each other over two legs. The final is contested in one match, with the venue of the gam decided each season.


- Where the final of next season
will be played?
- The venue of the final is not yet confirmed (as of August 2009).
