Suduva wins in Austria

FK Suduva Marijampole honourably finished their performance in UEFA Cup this year. Lithuanian vice-champions won the away game against Austrian club Salzburg 1:0 by a goal from Karolis Jasaitis after 78 minutes.

Suduva's win stopped Salzburg’s seven-game row of home wins in European competitions.

On 78th minute the game was decided by Karolis Jasaitis who scored from a dead ball situation. The goal stunned the home crowd of 5500 spectators as Suduva became the first Lithuanian football club to record a win in Austria.

As the first leg match between Suduva and Salzburg ended 4:1 in favour of the Austrian club the aggregate score was 4:2 and Salzburg went through.

Coach comments:
Co Adriaanse (Salzburg): "Of course, today we wanted to win this game. During the first 70 minutes we played well, but we could create no chances to score. And in this way we can not win, naturally."
