Prolific head-coach signs with Sillamäe

07/01/2010 - JK Kalev Sillamäe is looking to splash some cash in the wake of new Meistriliiga season having already recruited ex-Soviet Union striker Vladimir Kazatshjonok (57) as the new head coach.

Kalev’s president Mihhail Starodubtsev told Soccernet.ee that they signed Kazatshjonok on a two year deal and are looking for players with whom make the team stronger.

Sillamäe, a mining-town in Eastern Estonia has put their eye on former Estonian national team player Andrei Stepanov (30). Highly experienced centre-back has struggled with injuries for almost over a year now but would be a solid addition to Sillamäe’s defence line.

Since the port of Sillamäe started to support the team Kalev have made the jump from lower leagues to the top level.

Last season Kalev finished second but at the moment seem to have a fair chance for the title for the first time ever since Levadia lost two defenders Tihhon Shishov and Kristian Marmor and Flora certainly missing midfielder Martin Vunk, centre-back Tõnis Vanna and striker Vjatsheslav Zahovaiko.
