6/28/2009 – It‘s getting tighter and tighter at the top and in mid-table in A lyga – a thrilling draw by favorites Ekranas and Sūduva allowed victorious Vėtra back to top, while a draw in a battle for fourth place was well used by Šiauliai.

Reigning champions Ekranas met leaders Sūduva at home and had a two goal advantage after the first half, but allowed their opponents to level the scores.  In a dramatic end to the game Sūduva had to play with nine men as Povilas Lukšys was sent off while Mantas Samusiovas was injured with the Marijampolė team having made all of their substitutions.

Despite that, Sūduva held off Ekranas pressure and could have even sneaked a dramatic winner late on. Sūduva remains top with a point advantage over Ekranas and Vėtra, who scored three second half goals to defeat bottom team Kruoja Pakruojis.

In Garg˛dai Banga and Tauras Tauragė met for a head-to-head encounter for the fourth spot but couldn’t find a winner as both teams traded goals shortly after the hour mark. Meanwhile Šiauliai used this result well as they won at LKKA-Teledema convincingly and got back to winning ways.
