6/28/2009 - With four 18th round matches in Latvian football Virsliga, the second circle of the championship came to an end. There were no sensations as leaders took easy three points from opponents, but there was a very impressive individual performance by Vladimirs Dvališvili, who bagged a „poker” against Olimps/RFS.
Metalurgs Liepaja visited Riga and left absolutely no chances for the youngest championship team Daugava. The favorites scored one goal in first half and three – in second, while Daugava answered with only one precise shot. Metalurgs leader Ģirts Karlsons scored a hattrick (4:1).
The battle between championship outsiders Blazma and mid-table Dinaburg was uch more interesting match. The home side was very close to a surprise, but eight minutes before final whistle Vjačeslavs Daņilins converted a penalty (2:1).
For Skonto fans a great game was the match with Olimps/RFS. One of the strongest Latvian clubs scored eight goals and showed nice, fast and attacking football, while Olimps/RFS defenders had a hard time catching up with their opponents (8:1).
In the last game of the round in Ventspils bottom club Tranzīts lost against visitors from Jūrmala. Tranzīts played much better in the first half, but Jūrmala used their chances and scored the two goals. Meanwhile Tranzīts forwards Ronald Solomin or Artūrs Zjuzins could not score from great positions. Nothing changed in second half and the game ended 2:1.
